Former Finance Minister V Viswanatha Menon passed away

Former Finance Minister V Viswanatha Menon has passed away at 8:30 am today. Aged 92, one of the most respected leaders from the undivided Communist Party, V Viswanatha Menon had served as Finance Minister during the cabinet of 1987, led by EK Nayanar. A senior leader of CPM in Ernakulam, the veteran had his term as the Member of Parliament twice. It must be noted that, developed a feud with the party, he had gone onto contest with the support of BJP in Ernakulam Lok Sabha bypolls in 2003.

He had been under treatment in a private hospital in Kochi. At the time of death, he was survived by wife K Prabhavathi Menon and sons, Adv. V. Ajith Narayanan and Dr. V. Madhavachandran.
